SHINE Bursary Program
SHINE Bursary Program Application
At SHINE, we believe money should never be the reason you can’t come to class.
The SHINE Bursary Program was designed to make SHINE classes more accessible to participants with a demonstrated financial need. We recognize many participants in our community are either planning to pursue, currently enrolled in, or recently attended a post-secondary institution. We also recognize that the financial burden of post-secondary education falls on some students more than others based on your personal or family situation.
Regardless, if money is a barrier to attending SHINE Classes, we strongly encourage you to fill out our Bursary Program Application. We grant bursaries on a sliding scale depending on your financial need, which means you could qualify for steeply discounted or free classes.
HOW IT WORKS:
For first-time applicants, the application should take 15-30 minutes to complete. Please include only relevant details. Applications are processed on a rolling basis and you should hear back within 5-10 business days.
For returning applicants, you will not need to fill out the details each time. Simply confirm your financial situation has not changed since your original application and you will be granted a similar amount to the first application. Your bursary program status is active for 12 months from your acceptance date, after which time you will need to fill out a new application and re-qualify for financial support.
Your eligibility is assessed using a predetermined rubric
We use a nameless evaluation system. This means the person determining the amount of funding given will not have access to your name, email, or any other personal information that could create unnecessary implicit bias in their decision making (i.e. employer name, school name/program, etc)
Bursaries are not guaranteed. They are in limited supply and determined by how much SHINE can afford based on current business performance.
