"True transformation starts with showing up for yourself, not just in body, but in mind and spirit." – Payton

Summary

The Struggle with Perfectionism

Payton started her fitness journey with SHINE FIT a year ago after years of battling her relationship with body image, perfectionism, and inconsistent workout routines. She shared how fitness had always been an “all-or-nothing” experience for her, often pushing herself to extremes, resulting in injuries and burnout. From trying restrictive diets to obsessing over workouts, Payton was caught in a cycle of negative self-talk and unrealistic standards.

"I would push myself so hard to look like the other girls, but I was burning out," she shared. "I was doing everything to lose weight, but I wasn’t truly taking care of my body. My mindset was always about pushing harder, even if it hurt, until I finally realized I needed to treat my body with kindness and respect."

The Shift: Discovering SHINE FIT

Payton’s mindset began to shift when she decided to give SHINE FIT a try after seeing it on Instagram. She wasn’t looking for a quick fix, but for a community where she could reconnect with her body and focus on feeling good, not just looking a certain way. "I wanted to work out to feel strong and empowered, not to fit into a smaller size," Payton said.

From the very first class, Payton was welcomed into the SHINE FIT community with open arms. She was surrounded by a group of supportive women who celebrated each other's progress, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. "The first class was tough, but I left feeling so good," she said. "It wasn't about being perfect; it was about showing up for myself. And that was enough."

Embracing Consistency, Not Perfection

What really made the difference for Payton was the SHINE FIT philosophy of focusing on consistency and strength rather than perfection. "At SHINE, I realized I don’t need to be perfect, I just need to show up. And when I allow myself to have fun, the results come naturally."

This mindset shift was key in her ongoing transformation. Payton no longer compared herself to others; she embraced her own path, trusting the process and setting realistic goals based on how she felt, not how she looked.

Her one-year milestone with SHINE FIT was a powerful moment of reflection. Not only had she made fitness a consistent part of her life, but she also began advocating for herself in other areas of her life. A particularly meaningful moment came when Payton tackled a 10km hike in Greece.

She was able to complete it with determination, all while feeling energized and proud of her strength, something she never imagined herself doing before. "The biggest transformation was not just physical. It was how I felt about myself. I started to see that my body is capable of so much, and I deserve to feel proud of it."

Confidence Through Strength

Payton’s confidence continues to grow, and she's planning her next big adventure—hiking Machu Picchu in 2025. "Now, I know I can do anything," she says. "When you trust your body, it rewards you. I never thought I could be the person to take pictures in a bathing suit, but now, I have a photo album full of those moments, and I'm so proud of myself."

Payton's story serves as a reminder that the true transformation in fitness is about so much more than just changing your body. It’s about changing your mindset, breaking free from the expectations of diet culture, and choosing to love yourself at every step.

"The real power comes from believing that you deserve to feel good in your body no matter what it looks like," Payton says, a piece of wisdom she has embraced fully in her journey.
