How to Get the Most Out of Your SHINE FIT Trial đź’™

Hey Friend! We're guessing if you're reading this article, you have just signed up for a trial at SHINE FIT and want to know how to make the most out of it. This brief article will give you our tried & true tricks to get the most value out of your first 5 classes.

Your trial isn’t just about trying a few workouts - it’s about figuring out what role SHINE FIT can play in your life long-term. The more intentional you are going in, the better your experience (and results) will be.

Table of Contents

1. Setting Goals: Why Are You Here?

Before you book your trial classes, ask yourself:

What am I actually looking to get out of this trial?

  • Are you looking to add variety to your current routine?

  • Are you trying to build a consistent habit from scratch?

  • Do you want to get more cardio in regularly?

  • Are you looking for a community and a space that feels good to be in?

Your answer matters because it should directly shape how you use your trial.

If your goal is consistency: Don’t play whack-a-mole with the schedule. Jumping between random times, formats, and instructors every class will make it harder to build a routine and feel progress. Plus, working once per week won’t move the needle.

The leading medical guidelines recommend 150 minutes (2.5 hours) of physical activity per week. That’s roughly 2–3 classes/week at SHINE FIT.

👉 Treat your trial like a test run of your future routine, not a one-off experience.

If your goal is variety: Don't attend the same class format with the same Coach at the same times each week. You need to try different formats, times, and instructors to see what you enjoy most.

👉 Treat your trial like a sampler menu. Ask the Coaches to make recommendations or ask other members what their favourites are.

Bottom Line: Be intentional. Don’t just “fit classes in”—use your trial in a way that actually supports your goal.

2. Schedule in Advance

This is one of the biggest differences between people who fall off… and people who complete all their trial classes and actually build momentum for their fitness routine.

It's the people the schedule all their classes in advance.

Take 5-10 minutes to sit down, look through your calendar and plan out all your classes. Think through commute times, meals/snacks, busy work days, and other family/home obligations, like childcare or church. If you wait until the day of to decide if you feel like going, it's already too late.

Even the most motivated and goal-oriented people don't feel like packing their clothes and going to class on the day of when you have a million things to do and you're tired from the week.

Moreover, if you wait until the day before or day of to book a class, you risk not getting the time you want. Most of our classes book up well in advance because our Members book 4–12 weeks in advance, on average.

When booking in advance, you can generally expect:

  • 1 Month Out: You should be able to get into any class you want.

  • 1 Week Out: You will be able to get majority of the classes you want, except for themed classes, special events or extremely popular formats

  • Same week: All prime times are likely already full, and specialty formats are definitely waitlisted

  • Day-of: You’ll likely get into a class, but not necessarily your ideal time

Our recommendation:

👉 Book all your trial classes upfront based on your goal

👉 Put them in your calendar

👉 Adjust or reschedule later if needed

Rescheduling & Cancelling:

We have very generous Late Cancel & No Show Policies.

  • Cancel or reschedule 24+ hours in advance → no fee

  • Late cancel (<24 hours) → $10 fee, class credit returned

  • No-show → class is forfeited

If you have questions about how to reschedule or cancel, please ask our team and we can walk you through step by step.

3. Repetition is Key

This is where most people underestimate the process.

At SHINE FIT, it takes 15–20 classes to really get the hang of the moves, the flow of the classes and feel confident, especially if you're newer to group fitness or dance fitness.

Why?

  • The formats are structured and repeatable

  • The moves build on each other

  • We add one new track per format per week

That means:

👉 The more you come, the more familiar everything feels

👉 The faster you improve

👉 The more fun it becomes

If you’re constantly switching:

  • Different times

  • Different instructors

  • Different formats

…it can feel like every class is your first class

Instead:

  • Try repeating similar time slots

  • Take classes with the same instructors

  • Stick with 1–2 formats during your trial

This is also how:

  • Coaches get to know you and push you better

  • You start recognizing familiar faces

  • Real community starts to build

If you have a super strong fitness routine with lots of group fitness or dance experience, you'll likely find it easier to jump into different class formats or times, but the same principles apply to meeting coaches and making new friends as someone newer to fitness. Remember, it takes time to build relationships and gain a real sense of community.

4. Get Involved

The workouts are just one part of SHINE FIT.

The real magic happens when you lean into the community.

Ask questions:

  • Message us anytime (we’re available 7 days/week)

  • Talk to your coach before class (they’re there early for you)

  • Ask for help with form, modifications, or anything unclear

Show up early. Stay a little after.

  • This is when conversations happen

  • This is when connections are built

  • This is also the best time to ask a Coach questions about classes or proper form

Don’t be afraid to reach out:

  • Introduce yourself to someone new

  • Invite someone for coffee or a walk after class

  • Start a conversation - you’ll be surprised how many people are open to it

We’ve seen members meet some of their closest friends here. We truly believe the magic of a fitness studio is NOT the workouts themselves; it's the people and having a third space.
